Law of Attraction - Design your present, future and fortune

Our life is a collection of episodes and events, some good, some bad some outright ugly. When good things happen to us, we generally like to take credit for it or want others to acknowledge our role in it, but when things are no so good, we tend to find people, situation, circumstance, places, birds, animals, ghosts, Gods or anything, to hold responsible for our misfortune. There is tendency to externalize the reason for bad things happening to us. There is an old proverb as you sow, so shall you reap. In fact, mostly it’s not what happens to us hurts us, it’s mostly our response to what happens to us, decides what shall happen to us. Mostly its our bias, our belief, our fears, our apprehensions that influence our response or reaction to the things that happen to us, or the things that we initiate.

The author Rhonda Byrne calls it the law of attraction and has talked about it in detail in her book called The Secret, and a film by the same name. The book was a rage when it came in the market, was an international best seller. The book had interviews from many great writers, speakers and other eminent personalities, who narrated their life’s experience underlining the power and effect of the law of attraction.

Everything that’s coming into your life you are attracting into your life. And it’s attracted to you by the images you’re holding in your mind. It’s what you’re thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you. Ms. Byrne marketed the concept as law of attraction, but its not her discovery, its old wisdom, which our elders told us, but we somehow forgot it. Geeta Press Gorakhpur published a compilation of life stories with ancient wisdom called “Ek Lota Pani”. The book has a story about Akbar and Birbal, Once Akbar and Birbal were returning from forest after hunting, the lost their way back to the palace, and the soldiers accompanying them were also lost and were looking for the King and his minister. It was getting dark, so they thought of taking shelter on a tree, they both climbed a big banyan tree and sat there waiting for their soldiers to come and get them.

While they were waiting on the tree, Akbar saw a very old women coming, with some dry wood branches, which she was probably carrying to her house to use as fuel for cooking. Akbar was moved by the old age of the lady and hard work she was doing, and asked Birbal, that when we reach the palace please make arrangements for this old lady so she wouldn’t need to tire herself in such an old age, then he said to Birbal, I wonder what this old lady must be feeling about me, Birbal said, she respects and loves you a lot, and prays for your well being and safety. Akbar said, do you know this woman, Birbal said no, but I can make that out, Akbar became curious and asked Birbal to go and speak to the woman and ask her specifically how she thinks about me. Following the order of the King, Birbal got down from the tree, walked to the lady and said, o old woman, how cruel the king of this kingdom must be, whose subjects must work so hard at such old age, the woman looked at him, and responded angrily, who are you? Who doesn’t know about Badshah Akbar, most kind and benevolent king that any subjects can have, don’t dare speak a word against my king. I am working because my son has gone away for doing his business, and I have no one else so I must work, what has my King got to do with this. The King overheard the interaction and was very pleased. Birbal climbed back onto the tree after the old lady left and told Akbar the detail, Akbar said I heard this and I am surprised who could you guess, Birbal did not say anything, and they were sitting quietly waiting for the troops to come, after a little while they saw a solitary soldier coming he was casually walking, Akbar saw him and annoyingly told him, look at this idiot, his king is lost and he doesn’t look worried at all, I don’t know how many such useless creeps I have hired in my army. Birbal said, Badshah, you and him both think alike about each other, he also doesn’t like you so much. Akbar said, what? So, you know him, why didn’t you tell me about him earlier I would have him hanged. Birbal said, no sir, I never saw this soldier, in my life, never met him before. So, how can you so sure about what he thinks about me? Asked the king, Birbal said, in the same manner I told you about the old lady. Now the King was amused, he said, ok, lets find out, would you go and speak to him. Birbal said lets wait, let him come, the soldier arrived under the try as Birbal and Akbar finished speaking, the soldier looking the big banyan tree thought of resting and sat under it, he removed his sword and headgear, took out his leather hip flask drank few drops of water from it, and started muttering, The King is useless king, he has no job just to wage war or when not at war killing animals in the name of hunting, he doesn’t bother to see how his soldiers are treated, I think I should leave his army and do something else, even begging is better than working under him. The king was aghast to hear all this, and was also surprised how Birbal could guess it, they sat there silently without speaking a word. After a while the soldier got up and move on, then in few moments rest to the troops came and spread in the jungle looking for Akbar and Birbal, after seeing their soldiers they got down from the tree and joined the soldiers, they were very happy to see their king, and everybody moved towards the palace. On the way, Akbar asked, now you tell me how you could guess so precisely their opinion about me. Birbal said, Sir, we create vibes when we hold opinion about others, we attract their opinion or behavior towards us, as per our opinion and attitude. So, going by your opinion and attitude about them, I made that guess.

Birbal mentioned nothing but Law of attraction, it is the law that determines the complete order in the universe, every moment of your life, and everything you experience in your life. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are, the law of attraction is forming y our entire life experience, and this all-powerful law is doing that through your thoughts. You are the one who calls the law of attraction into action, and you do it through your thoughts.

You are the most powerful magnet in the universe! You contain a magnetic power within you that is more powerful than anything in this world, and this unfathomable magnetic power is emitted through your thoughts. The law of attraction says like attracts lie, and so as you think a thought, you are also attracting like thoughts to you.

In our day to day life, how many times while leaving for airport or railway station, you thought oh God, I might get delayed, I might be held up in traffic, the security at the airport would take ages, and I might almost miss my flight. And to your surprise or not to your surprise, because you anyway expected it, it happens, and you proudly say – See this is what I already told you. It always happens. Wait, press the pause button on your stream of thought, rewind it, you attracted these events through your thoughts. Next time try rephrasing your statement to, I shall be at the airport on time, I would board without any hassles, my train would be on time and I shall reach at the railway station well within time to catch my train. As you think like this your mind would start guiding your actions accordingly and you would be surprised at the results.

Rhonda Byrne says Thoughts are magnetic, and thoughts have a frequency. As you think, those thoughts are sent out into the Universe, and they magnetically attract all like things that are on the same frequency. Everything sent out returns to the source. And that source is you.

You are a human transmission tower, and you are more powerful than any television tower created on earth. You are the most powerful transmission tower in the Universe. Your transmission creates your life and it creates the world. The frequency you transmit reaches beyond cities, beyond countries, beyond the world. It re-verberates throughout the entire Universe. And you are transmitting that frequency with your thoughts!

Fix your tower fix your transmission fix your signals and have great show back on your life’s television.

Leadership Lesson from Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw

Leadership is one of the most written and discussed topic, I have written many posts on the subject. Some time ago I came across a lecture by Field Marshal Manekshaw on the subject, which de delivered at St. Xavier’s College, Bombay. I am sharing the excerpts from his lecture which I transcribed. Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw (April 3, 1914 –June 27, 2008), popularly known as ‘Sam Bahadur’, was one of the greatest military commanders India’s had. Manekshaw was a decisive leader and able listener who always considerate to those under his command. Almost always finishing his own work in an hour, he would often spend the rest of his time floating from one office to another, dropping in on harried juniors and eagerly helping them with their tasks. In fact, his colourful language and irreverent jokes were known to set off tidal waves of mirth through the army headquarters. Whenever I see a newspaper I see shortages, there is shortage of food, there is a sho...
