Who are You? -2: Popular Sanguine Personality

All of us had a friend who would come to us after watching a movie and would insist on telling us the story of the movie, he would never tell the story from start to finish, but would pick out funny episodes of the movie and while narrating them to you would laugh more than he would speak and some of us would get pissed off and tell him either laugh or tell us the story, and our statement would not make any difference on his face and he would continue with his style of storytelling.

You may find someone crying in the cinema hall watching a romantic movie or crying on a romantic TV serial at home, there is a great possibility that the person would be Popular Sanguine. The typical popular Sanguines are emotional and demonstrative, they make work into fun, and they all love to be with people. Popular Sanguines see excitement in each experience and repeat the flavour of each occasion in colorful descriptions. Popular Sanguines are outgoing and optimistic.

A sanguine friend of you might pull you to a place where street children are playing and say see how much fun these guys are having, and you might tell him are you not bothered with the trash around here, and how dirty they are and how can you not notice the foul smell around. Yes, a sanguine would ignore all that “unnecessary” detail.

Since we are born with our own set of temperament traits, the pattern begins to show up very early in life. Popular Sanguines innately look for fun and games, and from the time they are little, they are inquisitive and cheerful. Popular Sanguine babies play with anything they can find, laugh and coo, and love to be with people.

Popular Sanguines may not have more talent or opportunity than other temperaments, but they always seem to have more fun. Their bubbly personalities and natural charisma draw people to them.
The most obvious way to spot a Popular Sanguine is by listening in on any group and locating the one who is the loudest and chatting the most constantly. While other temperaments talk, Popular Sanguines tell stories.

Popular Sanguines have an inherent desire to be the centre of attention, and this trait, along with their colourful stories, make them the life of party. Sanguines may have long lasting effect on people they ever interact with. My father Shri SN Bajpai, was a super popular Sanguine, I can say this because, though he passed away in 1999 a good 19 years ago, but still when I meet someone who had ever met my father, or comes to know that I am his son, they will tell stories about him, how funny he was always cracking jokes, very witty, some of them get very emotional also while speaking about him, as if he had just left the party and they are missing him.

While popular Sanguines are not good at memorizing names, dates, places and facts, they do have a unique ability to hold on to the colourful details of life. They also are naïve and have childlike simplicity into old age. Again, speaking of my Sanguine father, most of my friends became more of his friends then they were mine, when they met him.  Popular Sanguines are emotional and demonstrative people who are optimistic and enthusiastic over almost everything. Their eyes have permanent sparkle and shine.

Popular Sanguines want to be helpful and popular, they volunteer without any thought of the consequences. My dad would go out of his way to help others, and he always had people coming to him with strange requests and they were always so confident that he will help them, even to the extent that it would cause him discomfort.

The popular Sanguines mind is always thinking up new and exciting ideas, my popular sanguine dad designed the first campaign for his organization, The National Savings Organization, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India; he also gave name to the government saving scheme for school children, he named it Sanchaika, the name which is still being used, he also wrote the slogan for his department which was used in national advertising campaign – “Ghair Zaroori Kharche Chhodo, Thoda Paisa Niyamit Jodo

Popular Sanguines have an abundance of energy and enthusiasm, they tend to attract and inspire others. The effective Popular Sanguine thinks up the ideas and charms others into carrying them out to a productive conclusion.

There are no strangers to Popular Sanguines, for on saying hello, they become your friends. While others hesitate or hold-back, Popular Sanguine opens conversations with anyone available.  A Sanguine can pick up topic anywhere, while standing in retail shop queue or travelling in train or waiting at the doctor’s place. They can start talking with anyone, they are probably being at most ease with themselves.  They have special flair to turn any simple task into a main event.

Leadership Lesson from Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw

Leadership is one of the most written and discussed topic, I have written many posts on the subject. Some time ago I came across a lecture by Field Marshal Manekshaw on the subject, which de delivered at St. Xavier’s College, Bombay. I am sharing the excerpts from his lecture which I transcribed. Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw (April 3, 1914 –June 27, 2008), popularly known as ‘Sam Bahadur’, was one of the greatest military commanders India’s had. Manekshaw was a decisive leader and able listener who always considerate to those under his command. Almost always finishing his own work in an hour, he would often spend the rest of his time floating from one office to another, dropping in on harried juniors and eagerly helping them with their tasks. In fact, his colourful language and irreverent jokes were known to set off tidal waves of mirth through the army headquarters. Whenever I see a newspaper I see shortages, there is shortage of food, there is a sho...

Writers ‘Block and Blogging

It also provides the writer with an opportunity to get connected with his audience in a dialogue and discussion. It’s a two way magazine. The versatility of blog is due to its medium, the internet.   In my opinion, and I am sure most would agree, that Internet is one of the greatest invention after wheel which has changed the society in a revolutionary manner.   For the students, blog is an excellent tool, which can not only help them in refining their writing skills, but also being able to develop a thought into an article, it will help them consolidate the concept in a proper and presentable manner.
